I read that kale gets bitter if it's grown in hot weather so we'll just have to wait and save that one for fall. In its place I got a cucumber plant. Instead of jalapeno peppers (which I couldn't find at Lowes), I found serrano peppers. They're a little smaller and a bit spicier but I don't mind. We have one empty plot left for the basil which I'm hoping we'll get soon. They had plenty of regular basil at the store but I really love Thai basil so I'm willing to wait.
Someone brought up a good point about the garden getting overcrowded. I see a high possibility that this will happen but we'll just have to wait and see. I planted the taller plants (tomatoes and peppers) in the far north end of the garden so that it wouldn't block too much sunlight from the others.... but what do I know? (not even sure if that's north!) Trial and error.
